CORONADO, CA (March 13, 2015) The City of Coronado has adjusted or established new fees for certain services provided by the Police Department, such as fees for the release of towed vehicles and for responding to parties or disturbance calls, to more reasonably recover its costs.
The City Council approved the fee increases last month. Some of the new fees fully and others only partially recover the cost of providing the services. The increases, which went into effect February 18, are based on costs established after an extensive citywide analysis of the actual costs for various services provided.
The largest fee increase is for second and subsequent responses to a party or disturbance. The City will recover its actual cost, which the fee study found to average $373 for each call. The fee to obtain a release for an impounded vehicle will now be $104.
Other fees that will increase include dog license fees, which will now cost $12 for a neutered or spayed dog and $5 for a neutered or spayed cat. The cost to retrieve an impounded animal is now $25 and the fee to dispose of a dead animal is $49.
Other fees that have increased include annual massage permits, which will now cost $75. The increase is based on the background checks and other work required by the Police Department.
