CHS Senior Standout: Shannon Spence

In 2005, senior Shannon Spence’s Coronado story began after her family got stationed here following a move from Germany. Now, ten years later Shannon Spence is ready to move on.

Shannon has nothing bad to say about her Coronado High School experience. She was a member of the Varsity women’s water polo team for four years, and she credits her teammates for making high school a great four years.

Shannon’s favorite teacher at Coronado High School was AP World History teacher, Mr. Heaphy. Shannon says, ” He was always willing to help and he always made his lectures funny and interesting.”

In Shannon’s last few months of high school she is most looking forward to powder puff, the senior trip, and graduation. Her most memorable moment was during her junior year CIF semifinal game for water polo when she blocked a lob shot everyone was sure would score.

Shannon’s story after high school will continue up north, at San Jose State University, where her water polo career will also continue. She chose San Jose for their Division I water polo program and the academics. Shannon will be majoring in forensics and criminology, which will help her achieve her goal of working at a Behavioral Analysis Unit.

One quirky thing about Shannon is that, “I will redo a bun (in my hair) multiple times before I get it right.”
