This past Thursday Coronado women’s water polo team beat The Bishops School 6-5 in their last regular season game. The win earned Coronado the league championship. It was the last home game for six seniors: Cassidy Wiley, Mackenzie Wiley, Shannon Spence, Madeleine Hill, McNeilly Fieweger, and Abigail Mosk.
Though a great way to end the regular season, the team focus is now on the CIF playoffs. Due to a new CIF power ranking system, Coronado will be seated third in the Open Division going into playoffs. The Open division rankings are:
1. The Bishops School
2. Valhalla High School
3. Coronado High School
4. La Jolla High School
5. Westview High School
6. Cathedral Catholic High School
7. Carlsbad High School
8. Torrey Pines High School
Coronado’s quarter final playoff game will be against #6 Cathedral Catholic, Saturday February 21st at 4:00 p.m. at La Jolla High School.
