Highlights from the City Manager’s Weekly Update: Another Bicycle Theft Arrest

Each week, the City of Coronado City Manager’s Office provides an update that includes information on programs, services and issues within the City, as well as news, project updates and follow-up information when applicable. Featured below are highlights from that update. The entire City Manager’s Weekly Update can be found on the City’s website.

Pomona/Glorietta Striping Modification

New lane striping has been added to a three-street intersection near Pomona Avenue and Glorietta Boulevard to improve safety in the area. The changes are considered temporary so City staff can observe driver behavior to ensure the modifications have not created a new safety concern. The modified striping pattern was designed so that southbound vehicles will drive closer to the centerline of Pomona, shortening the portion of the Pomona crosswalk in conflict with the driving lane. A parking lane was included as part of the design to ensure there are no impacts to on-street parking. The modifications may also have an added benefit of slowing vehicles that are turning onto Pomona as they are now forced to make a sharper turn onto Pomona from the intersection. The intersection is known to locals as “Five-Points.”
