Bluewater Boathouse Seafood Grill has introduced a special weekend brunch and Bloody Mary Bar to Coronado Island Oct. 4-5. The combined brunch and Bloody Mary Bar menu will be available every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and is served along with the regular Bluewater Boathouse lunch items.

Already a weekend favorite at Bluewater restaurants in Newport Beach, Redondo Beach, Tustin and Phoenix, the special Saturday and Sunday-only menu is expected to be especially popular at the sustainable seafood restaurant that opened June 27 in the historic Coronado Boathouse (built in 1887).

“Bluewater’s other restaurants very quickly gained a reputation as the go-to weekend spots for the best seafood-inspired brunch and Bloody Mary Bar – so we knew we wanted to establish the same tradition here in Coronado,” explained Steve Ewing, Bluewater Boathouse general manager. “Since we are first and foremost a neighborhood restaurant, we took a few months to get the menu just right. The result is a perfect blend of proven, Bluewater brunch favorites and only-in-Coronado specialties.”

The Bluewater Boathouse Weekend Brunch and Bloody Mary Bar Menu features starters, entrees, griddle favorites and brunch-specific cocktails and drinks available a la carte from $1.95 to $14.95. Specialties range from Classic Eggs Benedict and Crabcake Benedict to Hazelnut and Nutella French Toast; Applewood bacon or turkey sausage and one egg with fresh fruit served in a Bento Box. Also available are Bear Naked Granola with Yogurt and Fresh Fruit, Huevos Rancheros and a separate Kid’s Brunch for children 10 and under.

A highlight of the weekend menu is Bluewater’s famous Bloody Mary Bar, giving customers the chance to pair their brunch selections with their own unique Bloody Mary creation, or a bartender-prepared Bluewater “Peppar” Bloody Mary, or Bloody Caesar with Clamato. Starting with Bluewater’s secret-recipe mix made on the premises with gluten-free Blue Ice Premium Vodka from Idaho potatoes, cocktail fans can add more than 35 fresh vegetables, garnishes, mixes and hot sauces from around the world.

Ingredient choices include Worcestershire Sauce; Bragg’s Liquid Aminos; prepared Horseradish; multiple lemon and lime varieties; cucumbers, carrots and celery spears; and various pickled toppings including pearl onions, pimento-stuffed olives, blue cheese olives, whole jalapenos, green beans, asparagus, cauliflower, sweet pickles, pepperoncini and whole red peppers.

The cost of a trip to the Bloody Mary Bar is $7.95, and refills are $3. Customers can choose Clamato and add a raw Cherrystone Clam for $1 to make a Bloody Caesar. Other beverage options include a Mimosa with Fresh Orange Juice, Champagne or fresh-squeezed orange, tomato or grapefruit juice.

Bluewater Boathouse Seafood Grill is located at 1701 Strand Way, directly across from the Hotel del Coronado on Coronado Island. The phone number is (619) 435-0155.

About Bluewater Grill and Bluewater Avalon

Since the first restaurant opened in Newport Beach, Calif., in 1996, Bluewater Grill has honored the rich history and traditions of its fishing forefathers, and worked with fisherman around the world to source the highest-quality seafood in peak season. Owner-operated from the beginning, the restaurant has made its mission to provide guests with the freshest sustainably caught or farm-harvested seafood, innovatively prepared, in an atmosphere of casual style.

In addition to the original location in Newport’s Cannery Village, there are Bluewater Grills at King Harbor in Redondo Beach, at The District at Tustin Legacy in central Orange County, and in the Camelback neighborhood of central Phoenix.

Beyond the original four restaurants, Bluewater Avalon and Bluewater Boathouse Seafood Grill serve locally caught seafood from two of Southern California’s most picturesque locations: over the water on Avalon Bay on Santa Catalina Island, and in the former Hotel del Coronado boathouse on Coronado Island in San Diego, respectively.

Bluewater founders also announced plans to open a seventh Bluewater restaurant in October 2014 in Temecula Wine County. For more info, go to www.bluewatergrill.com, or follow Bluewater Grill on Facebook.
