Football Season & Ron’s Garage Take Over McP’s Irish Pub

MCP’S HOSTS 19 BIG SCREENS FOR FOOTBALL SEASON

Coronado’s only Irish Pub, McP’s, is preparing for football season. The restaurant and bar just added 17 big screen TVs to accommodate customers eager to not miss the beginning of September football and the race for the World Series of October Baseball. “We now have 19 big screen TVs,” said Greg McPartlin, co-owner of McP’s Irish Pub. “We’re now the unofficial NFL viewing headquarters for Coronado and the island’s only true sports bar. We can access all National Football League and Major League Baseball channels throughout the United States.”

The implementation of big screens at McP’s includes the inside bar and restaurant, as well as the out door patio. Currently McP’s can seat 150 on the patio and 100 people on the inside. The 32-year old dining establishment also caters to wedding receptions, change-of-commands, retirement ceremonies, rehearsal dinners, large family reunions, alumni reunions and birthday parties. The patio at McP’s is dog-friendly.

McP’s Irish Pub, a tradition in Coronado since 1982, hosts fine dining and entertainment. The sports bar now features 19 big-screen TVs. Ron’s Garage (above) will make two encore appearances to officially close out summer – Sundays, September 14 and 21, from 2-6 p.m.

“We can actually access any major sporting event in the country,” said Peter Josephs, co-owner of McP’s. “With three TVs on the patio and a portable one that can be moved anywhere, we can meet all our customers’ sporting appetites.”

During football season McP’s will serve breakfast on football Sundays from 9-11 a.m. They will also offer continuous drink and food specials throughout the season.

Over the years McP’s has won numerous “Best Of” Awards – Best Bar Scene, Best Entertainment, Best Live Music, Friendliest Food Server (Tracy Taylor).

Live entertainment takes place every Tuesday-Saturday night featuring the best music on the island. Many successful bands from the region got their start at McP’s – Rockola, the Mar Dels, the Stilettos, the Cat-illacs. Ron’s Garage plays on the patio most Sundays. The legendary Joey Harris (formerly of the Beat Farmers) opened the summer season and performed once a month.

Nachos and football go together like mom and apple pie. Look for plenty of both this football season at Coronado’s only sports bar, McP’s Irish Pub.

“The music has been such a successful draw,” said Pete Josephs, “that we are extending musical Sundays with Ron’s Garage. They will perform September 14 and 21, 2-6 p.m., as we seek to extend this wonderful summer we’ve all been experiencing.”

McP’s Irish Pub is located at 1107 Orange Avenue, at the corner of C Avenue, in Coronado. For more information call (619) 435-5280 or visit their website at www.mcpspub.com.
