City of Coronado solicits resident opinions on traffic calming strategies

The City of Coronado has released an online survey regarding potential improvements to Third and Fourth Streets. The survey is a follow up to the public workshop held on August 6. Those who attended the workshop are still encouraged to complete the survey.

At the workshop, the traffic engineering firm Fehr & Peers presented three alternative traffic calming concepts for Third and Fourth Streets. The objectives of the improvements included in these concepts would be to reduce the speed of the traffic; reduce congestion during the AM and PM peak periods; and resolve additional concerns of residents including the failure of traffic to yield to pedestrians, difficulty crossing or turning onto Third and Fourth Streets from side streets, noise created by the traffic, and cars blocking the intersections.

The presentation from the workshop is posted for review on the City’s website. Selected display boards are also available for inspection at the Coronado Public Library at 640 Orange Avenue and will be posted on the City’s website. The survey is available on-line. Please complete the survey by Sunday, August 24. Any questions should be directed to Dave Johnson at 619-522-2425.
