Coronado Home Receiving National Attention As Coastal Living Magazine’s “Showhouse 2014”

Coastal Living Magazine’s 2014 Showhouse on Coronado Will Be Open for Tours July 16–September 28

CORONADO – Some of the biggest news in the country is taking place right here in Coronado. Local builder John O’Brien and his company, Flagg Coastal Homes, are quarterbacking an ambitious home project that is bringing national attention to Coronado.

Coastal Living Magazine has selected one of O’Brien’s new homes (100 Ocean Drive) as their Showhouse 2014. The magazine has featured 28 Showhouses around the country, but this is their first in California. Coastal Living reaches 4.4 million readers, and Coronado’s Showhouse has already been successful in bringing national focus to Coronado. An article ran in the Los Angeles Times last week promoting tours of the Showhouse.

The Coronado Showhouse, which sits on the edge of Sunset Park, will be open to the public for special tours beginning Wednesday, July 16, giving consumers a firsthand look at this highly anticipated home featuring the latest in innovation, decor, and construction.

“Coronado Beach – with its stunning coastal views and relaxed, small-town feel – is the perfect location to bring our brand to life. Together with our partners, we have created a truly spectacular home,” says Coastal Living Editor-in-Chief Antonia van der Meer.

This Coastal Living Showhouse 2014 is bringing lots of attention to Coronado, and Coronado builders Flagg Coastal Homes. The house will be open for tours July 16 through September 28.

Coastal Living has selected an all-star design team to collaborate on this 4,500-square-foot oceanfront home. In addition to builders John O’Brien and Mark Blore (and architectural designer Dorian Lytle) of Flagg Coastal Homes, it features the work of interior designers Betsy Burnham and Max Humphrey (of Burnham Design) and landscape architect Frank Marczynski (of Topia).

The four-bedroom home was designed to be effortlessly chic. “We want the house to be like a great outfit that carries from daytime to dinner and after; one that works when kids and dogs and sand are underfoot but also sets the stage for everything from beach barbecues to elegant cocktail parties,” says Burnham.

The home will be open from July 16 through September 28 with tours each Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets cost $25, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Navy SEAL Foundation, which offers critical support to Naval Special Warfare commands, active-duty personnel, their families, and veterans of Navy Special Warfare. Tickets can be purchased online at www.coastbuilder.net or at the Coronado Visitor Center.
