Fifty years ago today, on April 3, 1964, Mr. and Mrs. Carroll W. Gerbel were married on the Amphibious Base in Coronado, California.
Miss Linda Schommer of West Chicago, Illinois and LTJG Carroll Gerbel USN, of St. Joseph, Michigan met in October 1963 while attending a party in Mission Beach, California. 
The couple became engaged on New Year’s Eve 1963, in Coronado, and they were married three months later in a small ceremony. The couple and their attendants celebrated the wedding with a dinner at the Hotel Del Luau Room, and honeymooned in San Francisco.
The Gerbels lived in Japan, Ohio, Illinois, and Michigan, prior to returning to their favorite city in the world, Coronado, in 1985.
