Caroline Haines Selected Coronado Realtor of Year

YOUNG REALTOR BOASTS INTERESTING CORONADO HISTORY

Caroline Haines, Coronado Realtor of the Year.

It wasn’t an Oscar or a Grammy, but you would never know that from the look on Caroline Haines’ face at the recent Coronado Real Estate Association (CREA) awards luncheon, when presented with Realtor of the Year honors. The prestigious award is given in recognition of cooperation, ethics, integrity and community service.

“This was a complete surprise to me. I attended the luncheon to support the industry and my peers, but had no idea I was going to receive this,” said Haines. “As I accepted the award, I was beet red and speechless, with no thank you speech. That’s me,” she laughed. “But, what an incredible honor. I’ve always supported CREA and believe strongly in their role in the community. I am so blessed to receive this award.”

A graduate of Coronado High School (class of ‘74) and fourth generation Coronadan, Haines hails from the historic Keck family. Her great grandfather, Walter Keck, was vacationing at the Hotel Del in 1911 when he won a home on Alameda Boulevard (then K Avenue) in a midnight poker game. He promptly moved the family here. Caroline’s uncle, Nick Reynolds, was founder of the Kingston Trio. Her brother, Robbie, is an Olympic Gold Medalist (sailing). Her cousin Joey Harris is one of San Diego’s most famous Rock artists.

Although she has been in the industry for 27 years, the CREA presentation marks Haines’ first full year in the Coronado real estate market. She left behind a 20-year career in sales with Laguna Beach Coldwell Banker and ownership in Laguna Escrow Services to return home to Coronado and set up shop last year. She works at Lee Mather Co., Realtors as a Sales Agent/Realtor.

She was taught at an early age to support her community. “I’ve always found a way to be involved in my community, no matter where I lived,” she said. That dedication to community prompted Haines to create the Inaugural Coronado Pet Parade and Chili Cook-off, benefitting PAWS (where she also works as a volunteer). The event has grown to be extremely popular.

Haines is a board member at the Coronado Senior Center and serves on the Residential Standards Improvement Project board for the city of Coronado. She is also active with the ladies at the Coronado Golf Course.
