Islanders Women’s Water Polo Now 2-0 against Cathedral

Thursday, January 30th, the Coronado Islanders faced Cathedral Catholic. Early in the game the islanders went up 4-1. Then we lost our focus, letting Cathedral come back on us to tie the game by the end of the 3rd quarter. The Islanders scored quickly in the 4th quarter and then were able to hold off Cathedral for a final score 5-4. Goals were scored by Cassidy Wiley (2) and one each for Victoria Rose Meek, Jaicey Tyler and Mackenzie Wiley. The goalies, Shannon Spence and Isabella Cuellar, each played half the game and both played very well.

This week the Islanders play against La Jolla High School, on Wednesday, February 5th, at La Jolla High School. The game is going to be played in honor of a 6-year-old girl, Julia Garmo, who has been diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma. She is currently undergoing surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation treatment. The girls water polo teams from La Jolla and Coronado would like to help support Julia and her family, by raising money to help pay for the hospital bills. Contributions can be made at the pool or online.
