SAN DIEGO — The “Screamin’ Indians” of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 6 and the “Wolf Pack” of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 75 are scheduled to return home to Naval Air Station North Island (NASNI) in San Diego Dec. 11 following an extended deployment to the U.S. 5th, 6th and 7th Fleet areas of responsibility with Carrier Strike Group 11 and Carrier Air Wing 11.
Throughout the deployment, HSC-6 personnel and MH-60S Seahawk helicopters were embarked aboard USNS Rainier (T-AOE-7) and USS Nimitz (CVN 68). HSM-75 personnel and MH-60R Seahawk helicopters were embarked aboard USS Shoup (DDG 86), USS Stockdale (DDG 106), USS William P. Lawrence (DDG 110), USS Princeton (CG 59) and USS Nimitz (CVN 68).

The squadrons’ arrival to NASNI will mark HSC-6’s first deployment since transitioning from Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron (HS) 6 in 2011 and HSM-75’s first deployment as a carrier-based squadron. HSC-6’s primary mission areas are logistics, fleet support operations, mobility, combat search and rescue, anti-surface warfare, support of special operations forces and command, control and communication. HSM-75’s mission capabilities include search and rescue, mobility, electronic warfare, surface warfare, anti-submarine warfare, and command, control and communications.
