Second Hand Prose is a bookstore that is adjacent to the Coronado Public Library at the corner of 6th Street and D Avenue just behind the tennis courts (phone 619-435-0290). It is operated by Friends of the Library volunteers which is a non-profit organization. Sales from these gently used books are used to fund library purchases and programs. You can see the hours of operation in the photo above. We couldn’t believe that we had never visited this bookstore before today!
Since we were out Christmas shopping, we were very pleased with the fantastic selection of books and for prices that ranged from $1-$10 (we purchased three books this afternoon for only $8).
Not only can you buy books from Second Hand Prose, but you can drop off your used books and get a tax donation. We were there for about 20 minutes and noted that three different people donated multiple boxes of used books.
