Village Elementary Celebrates Month of the Military Child

April is the Month of the Military Child

To celebrate “Month of the Military Child,” Coronado’s Village Elementary School is participating in a weeklong “Military Child Appreciation” event from April 16-20. The School Liaison Officer, Military Family Life Consultants, and members of Village’s “Military Mom’s Club,” are working with the various military clubs at both Coronado Middle School and Coronado High School to coordinate this celebration. Members of the Student-2-Student club and the Born Raised And Transferred (B.R.A.T.) club are volunteering their time to assist and mentor the K-5 military students and help with the activities.

The students at Village will rotate through a variety of activities to include: watching a video prepared by the military students at Coronado Middle School, drawing pictures and making cards for other military children in the area, and participating in group discussions of why being a military child is important. Each military child who participates will be given a certificate of appreciation for being a military kid!

The “Deployment Club” presented by Dr. Ryan Lloyd with FOCUS will begin for 1st through 3rd graders on Wednesday, April 18.

Also, military students are constructing a “Wall of Honor” of currently, recently, and soon to be deployed parents. Students are encouraged to bring a picture in for our wall in the library hall area.

Please contact our Military Family Life Consultant Roy Abril at (619) 522-8915 at extension 5089 for more information or to assist.
