After a rough start to their season, Coronado boys baseball team wins the CIF Championchip game at Tony Gwynn Stadium in style!
I am not a parent of any of the players on the team but have friends who’s sons play on the team. Although I sure felt all the emotions they were feeling! The boys started out with some jitters in the first inning allowing Madison to score five runs. But, they never gave up! That was the key. I think they figured out what it means to be a team today! What a roller coaster ride! Did I ever tell you that I don’t like roller coasters???? I just kept yelling and whistling and clapping. I sure felt like I had a kid on the team!!! I kept thinking….calm down, imagine what the real parents are going through! I could see it in their faces. The Dad’s always try to appear to be calm and cool.(even though we know they are screaming and yelling inside) The Mom’s and Grandma’s on the other hand, are laughing, crying, yelling and down right sick to their stomachs!
I was supposed to be going to a baby shower for a very good friend but I couldn’t leave with the game being so close. I am really glad I didn’t! I think…elation is a good word to describe the feeling of all the Coronado fans and players.
Winning CIF was the outcome of all the players pulling together and supporting each other and believing in each other. Whether they got in this game or not, they all played a part in the outcome. One young man that comes to mind is Steven Preciado. If it weren’t for Stevie closing out two of the playoff games, Coronado would not be the CIF winners. It’s a shame he did not get to play in his last game as a senior but everyone knows how hard you worked to help get your team the championchip. Hold your head high Steven.
Congratulations to all the guys and their friends and families. You made us all proud!!!!!
