
SAN DIEGO — The USS Ronald Reagan and three warships in its strike group return to San Diego Wednesday following a five-month deployment that included air strikes in support of U.S. forces in Afghanistan and operations against pirates off Somalia. Scheduled to undergo a $12.1 million, seven-month-long makeover, the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier is sailing back to its homeport with the guided-missile cruiser USS Chancellorsville and the guided-missile destroyers USS Gridley and USS Howard, according to the U.S. Navy.
