BBMAC President’s Newsletter / Update

Hi BBMAC Supporters! As you may know, the School District and the BBMAC Foundation have mutually agreed to terminate the Aquatics Agreement. The District will assume operational control of the BBMAC facility in the next few months. A Task Force has been created by the District to identify means of bringing long term financial viability to the facility and to bring District activities back into BBMAC. The transition from BBMAC to the District operational control is under way. After the transition is completed, the predominant role of the BBMAC Foundation will be to fundraise to cover any shortfall in revenue and to restore the endowment. Additionally, the Superintendent has said that the Foundation will also play a role in the marketing of the Aquatics Facility as well as act in an advisory capacity to the Superintendent and the District Governing Board regarding matters that effect BBMAC. The main mission of the BBMAC Foundation will be fundraising and make no mistake about it, fundraising to support the BBMAC facility is still projected to be an essential part of the Task Force’s fiscal recovery plan for the foreseeable future. The annual goal of fundraising is projected to be up to $100,000 to cover any fiscal deficits incurred by the pool. It could be more or less then that in any given year. In order to raise that kind of money year after year, your BBMAC Foundation has created a sustainable fundraising plan that is attached to this email. There are six major categories and a wide variety of sub-categories in this plan. Think of the sub categories as a menu of options from which to choose from at any given time. Eventually, this fundraising plan will incorporate most if not all of these menu options especially if our goal also eventually includes the job of replenishing and growing the original Aquatics Endowment, which the Superintendent has set as a goal. See the fundraising plan here: BBMAC Fundraising Plan Sept 09.doc In order to execute that kind of ambitious plan, we need a committed team of volunteers. The truth is that we need your help. We are seeking between 20-25 committed volunteers to devote their extra energy and time (more than a few months but less then a decade) in order to establish a sustainable fundraising plan for the long term. No experience is necessary but if anyone has experience or is familiar with any of the fundraising sub-categories on the attached fundraising plan that would certainly be a plus. This will be a community effort to sustain the operations of BBMAC. Now is the time to continue the legacy of stewardship that made this world-class aquatics facility a reality. If you are ready to continue that legacy of stewardship, please contact at your earliest convenience.
