Beautification Scholarship Award to Jessica Lewis

Jessica Lewis has graduated from Coronado High School and going on to Chico State University to pursue a competitive career in nursing. Jessica’s outstanding contribution to our community is linked to services which beautifies our City, such as garden club projects, Coronado Floral Association activities, and interests outside Coronado organizations. For years, as a young pre-teen, she has been helping her grandparents in the Children’s Bouquet section, setting up and bringing supplies and assisting the young children with bouquets and projects that inspire the young ones to be involved. Most recently she assists her Grandfather, Loel Fain, in the famous Men’s Section, where entries can safely interpret polictics in a comedic way, without too much serious bantering at least. This was a tough section, but Jessica is truly a star when dealing with challenges and turning situations that are less than positive to ones that are inspiring and admirable for such a young person. Jessica has entered the Coronado Flower Show several times in the floral arrangement section, one of her entries won not just a blue ribbon, but the Trophy from Picture Boxes. This is work she did in her last days as a middle school student and was competing with many seasoned master floral arranger throughout Coronado, and San Diego County. How is that for outstanding? We hope that Jessica’s efforts and dedication to the community will continue inspire our young children to be involved in organizations and projects that will help sustain the beauty of our dear City and to continue the legacy of work that people like her grandparents so willingly and unselfishly offer. Congratuations, Jessica Lewis! You deserve this recognition and we wish you success in your educational endeavors at Chico!
