UPDATED May 30, 2020 – On Friday night the El Cajon Police Department assisted in the arrest of a third suspect wanted in connection with the armed robbery and shooting that took place on May 4th. According to the Coronado Police Department, the suspect, a 17-year-old Chula Vista resident, was charged with attempted murder, robbery and assault with a firearm and transported to San Diego County Juvenile Hall.
UPDATED May 27, 2020 – The Coronado Police Department announced this afternoon that Coronado Detectives have arrested Alejandro Guzman, 08/27/01, of Chula Vista, in connection with the armed robbery and shooting of the 18-year-old Coronado High School student Jacob Mckanry on May 4. Guzman was charged with robbery and transported to San Diego Central Jail. This investigation is ongoing.
May 23, 2020 – Yesterday, the Coronado Police Department released a statement related to the May 4 shooting and robbery of CHS student, Jacob Mckanry:
This morning, we arrested one suspect in the shooting and robbery incident that took place on May 4 in the 900 block of Orange Avenue that left an 18-year-old Coronado High School student with serious injuries.
Coronado detectives, with the assistance of Chula Vista PD SWAT, National City PD, Harbor PD SWAT, and SDSUPD served three search warrants and arrested a 17-year-old male in Chula Vista earlier today.
The suspect is charged with attempted homicide, robbery, and assault with a deadly weapon. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are pending.
