Over 155 Witches Will Swoop Down on Gaslamp & Coronado October 25th

155 WITCHES TAKE FLIGHT

Cackle of Witches Invade Gaslamp,

Then Takeover Coronado’s McP’s Irish Pub

CORONADO – For the past 15 years a cackle of witches has preceded Halloween as the “other” Halloween event in this island community.

The first year there were ten. Last year there were 128. This year they top 155, ranging in age from 21-80. All the witches, dressed in their finest All Hallows Eve costumes, will meet Saturday, October 25, at the intersection of Coronado’s Orange Avenue and Richard Henry Dana Place.

At that intersection, witches will gather around the two main fountains. The fountains are located in front of the Brigantine Restaurant and at the northeast corner of the Hotel del Coronado.

The witches will board two British double deck buses and be transported to the Gaslamp District.

Then, crammed into the British double deck buses, they will be whisked back to Coronado across the bridge, and delivered to McP’s Irish Pub, where Rock ‘n’ Roll band, Ron’s Garage, will be performing on the outdoor patio.

Tradition dictates that, no matter what song the band is playing when the witches arrive, they immediately stop and play “Witchy Woman,” by the Eagles.

It’s a crazy scene. It doesn’t benefit any charity. You’ll walk away asking yourself, “Why?” But it is also one of the most unusual photo ops in the city, all year round. What could be more fun than 155 witches out for a good time?
