Loews Coronado Bay Resort kicks off holiday season with first annual “Light Up the Night”

The holiday season kicked off with a magical glow and the sweet sounds of children singing at the first Annual “Light up the Night” at Loew’s Coronado Bay Resort.

It was a “Marshmallow World” on the Bay Terrace as Kindergarten and First grade students from Silver Strand Elementary School entertained the crowd with Christmas classics just prior to the lighting of the tree. Coronado Mayor Casey Tanaka emceed the event, inviting a local military family to help with the honors. And no holiday event is complete without hot cocoa and Gingerbread cookies.

Following the tree lighting, Santa himself arrived in grand style in a red Camaro, before meeting and greeting all the kids and fielding requests for their every holiday wish. Kids also enjoyed a festive cookie decorating station complete with frosting and a myriad of sprinkles for the perfect sweet treat.

The first annual “Light Up the Night” benefited the local Navy Marine Corps Relief Society; families attending were asked to donate an unwrapped toys to give to children and families in need.

“This is a time of year where we give thanks. Light up the Night is about opening our home, Loews Coronado Bay Resort, to thank our community for all of their support throughout the year. We light the tree to signify the official start of the holiday season. This is a tradition we look forward to continuing with the community each and every year for generations to come,” said Brian Johnson, Managing Director of Loews Coronado Bay Resort.

Other festive events in Loews’ holiday lineup include:

  • Pancake Breakfast with Santa: On Saturday, December 20 from 9-10:30, enjoy a breakfast with Santa with a feast fit for a king – or at least everyone on Santa’s “Nice” list. After the breakfast, Food Network star and New York Times Bestselling author Melissa d’Arabian will read classic holiday stories to the crowd.

Menu items include fig caprese, scallop Carpaccio, citrus kale salad, diver scallops, Wagyu braised short rib, Chilean sea bass, roasted Cornish game hens fruit cake break pudding and Bruche de Noel.
