Active Shooter Training:Ā A multi-jurisdictional active shooter training exercise will be hosted by Coronado Police and Fire personnel on Thursday, March 28, at Coronado High School. Public safety officials are informing the community in case you see a large amount of patrol and fire vehicles at the school.Ā The training is being held during spring break, so normal classroom instruction is not interrupted.

Undergrounding Open House:Ā On Thursday, April 4, the City will host an open-house forum to present information and seek community input on the Cityā€™s Utility Undergrounding program. City staff and the Cityā€™s consultant, Harris & Associates, will make a presentation and be available to answer questions. The City is looking for input from residents about options that could maximize or stretch the General Fund resources set aside for placing utilities underground. The meeting will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Community Center Nautilus Room, 1845 Strand Way.

Caltrans Road Repairs:Ā On Monday and Tuesday, March 18 and 19, crews with the California Department of Transportation worked overnight, cutting and removing large sections of asphalt on Third and Fourth streets between the San Diego-Coronado Bridge and Naval Air Station, North Island. They then repaved the areas as a permanent repair.Ā Read more in the full City Manager’s Weekly Update.

Subsurface Void Repairs:Ā Ā The contractor on the subsurface void repair project began excavation operations this week and discovered that the existing sewer main and sewer manhole in the nearby vicinity were undermined due to the soil loss. The contractor set up a bypass operation to take the existing pipe out of service to reconstruct it. It is anticipated that the sewer manhole can be preserved as the soil loss was minimal under the structure. The work should be finished up in April.
