New Meeting Announced for Port Master Plan Update – August 28

Port of San Diego Announces New Public Outreach Opportunity on the Future of San Diego Bay

Coronado residents have made their voices heard. As of July 31, 2019, the end of the 90 day public review period, the Port of San Diego had received nearly 3,000 written letters and emailed comments regarding the proposed Port Master Plan Update (PMPU). Voices from districts around the bay will have a further opportunity to be heard at the next PMPU Community Discussion meeting on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 5:30 pm.

Coronado – One of 10 Port Districts

Coronado is one of 10 Port of San Diego districts. Each district has its own point of view as to what it expects from the Port Master Plan Update Discussion Draft. Within Coronado there are not only community members who have voiced their needs, but leaseholders, organizations and other agencies. Due to the location, the August 28 meeting will most likely be attended by many from the community adjacent to the Port’s Shelter Island planning district. Coronado residents that want to convey their thoughts to the port should plan to attend this meeting. Their voices are vitally important in seeing to it that Coronado’s concerns are addressed.

Stay Informed and Involved

Although the comment period for the Discussion Draft ended on July 31, there will be further opportunities for public review and feedback as revisions to the PMPU continue. The Port recently sent a letter to those who provided an email address along with their commentary (see link below). Being aware of future meetings will allow residents to stay up to date and aware of changes to the PMPU; there is a link in the letter to sign up.

Born on a peninsula in a northeastern Atlantic state, with a Navy port and a very important bridge. Little did I ever imagine I would eventually be living on a (much more beautiful) peninsula in the south west, with a major Naval facility and a very important bridge. Life is full of wonderful surprises and mine has been a fabulous unplanned adventure. To be continued! Have news to share? Send tips, story ideas or letters to the editor to: [email protected]
