Coronado Police alerted the community via Nixle at 2:45pm to avoid the 400 block of D Avenue due to a garage fire in the alley. A total of eight fire trucks, from Coronado and San Diego, were on scene. Onlookers said that it seemed like they had the fire out in less than 10 minutes. Reports are that no one was home at the time and the garage was detached, so although there is smoke damage, the fire did not spread to additional structures.

The residents of the home were visibly rattled, and upset by the loss of what was in the garage, but were glad that no one was hurt and that the damage wasn’t worse. As of 5:30 this afternoon, Hazmat crews were still working to clean the area.
