Call to Artists: Portraits, Places and Things

Coronado Cultural Arts Commission * Portraits, Places and Things – Call to Artists, Application Deadline September 15, 2017

The Coronado Cultural Arts Commission is calling local artists to submit artwork for jury for the final exhibition of the year in the C3 Gallery. The theme for inclusion in this exhibition is “Portraits, Places and Things.” It will open November 1 and run through February 15, 2018.

The C3 Gallery is comprised of three areas to exhibit works of various media, including paintings, photography, pottery, sculpture, and glass. The gallery accommodates 48 linear feet of 2-D hanging work and has an 8-foot cabinet with adjustable glass shelves for 3-D art.

To participate, artists must be 18 years or older and qualify as one of the following:

  1. a resident of Coronado
  2. an employee (20 hours or more), teacher or property owner in Coronado, or
  3. an operator of a gallery in Coronado.

All artwork must be original and the work of the registered applicant. Work must relate to the established theme and the overall dimensions of submitted work is not to exceed 24” x 28” including the frame.

Selected artists will be notified by October 6 and must be able to deliver artwork for installation on October 27 or 28 and attend the Artist Reception scheduled for Wednesday, November 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. The fee to enter the juried call is $25 (non-refundable). It is a seven-member commission charged with providing recommendations and taking action to “foster the development and enjoyment of performing, visual, cultural, and other arts in Coronado.” For more information: www.coronadoarts.com.
