The Coronado Chamber of Commerce will be hosting Celebrate Coronado on Wednesday, July 19th from 5-8pm at the Coronado Community Center in the Nautilus Room. “Celebrate Coronado is our chance to thank our local firefighters, lifeguards, police officers and city employees for all they do,” Executive Director Sue Gillingham said. “It’s such a great event each year, and we hope the community will come out to help us recognize these heroes.”

This event serves as the Chamber’s Annual Community Awards, including the local Police Officer of the Year, Firefighter of the Year, Lifeguard of the Year, City Employee of the Year and the newly introduced Naval Base Coronado Firefighter of the Year. Additionally, the Chamber will induct their 2016-2017 Board of Directors and will present their selected Volunteer of the Year and Lewis R. Hardy, Jr. Award for service to the community.

“The Navy is such a large part of this community that we wanted to also recognize their hardworking heroes, too,” said Gillingham.

All are invited to attend this celebratory evening, and tickets are now on sale for just $50. Tickets include the local restaurant showcase dinner, a drink and the night’s entertainment of live music provided by Thomas Giglio. There will also be a cash bar and opportunity prizes from a variety of local businesses up for grabs. You can also sponsor a local hero to attend for just $50.

The Chamber would like to give a special thanks to the sponsors who have signed on thus far: Hotel del Coronado, CalAm Water, Crown City Photography, Coronado Eagle & Journal and Glorietta Bay Inn for their support. Businesses interested in sponsoring the event or donating to the raffle are encouraged to call the Chamber office.
