The Junior Optimist Octagon Clubs of Coronado (JOOI) from all district schools will be conducting a canned food drive from Monday, February 1, to Sunday, February 7. Souper Bowl of Caring is a youth-led service movement tied to the big game each winter. Souper Bowl of Caring helps young people across America develop a stronger connection to their communities by caring for their neighbors in need. Octagon Club is asking you to join the movement that is transforming the days surrounding Super Bowl weekend into an opportunity to give and serve. All canned goods collected will be donated to the San Diego Soup Kitchen at the First Presbyterian Church in Downtown San Diego.
A collection box will be located at Coronado High School’s main office (650 D Avenue), for community members who wish to donate. Donations will be accepted during regular school hours, making it a great opportunity to send your child to school with a few cans to donate. Additionally, members of all three JOOI clubs will be out in the Coronado Community on Super Bowl Sunday, February 7, from 12:00-2:00 PM collecting goods door to door.
