Humans of Coronado is a photo series where we “bump” into residents and visitors around the “island,” completely unplanned and unfiltered. It was inspired by Humans of New York. Next time you are out and about around town, you may just find yourself part of the next HOC series!

“The best thing about Veterans Day is the parade.”
“My dad was a two time vet- Korea and WWII. I went over and spent a little time with him. He’s 91 years old now.”
“I had brothers-in-law that were in the Navy. They are all gone now. I remember them at parties when they were very young. It was a very nice time… everyone was young.”
“My grandpa… he recently died. I was close to him. He was a Vice Admiral, Naval Aviation. When he was on a ship, they were docked somewhere- I don’t know where they were- but it was all shipmen. They were giving tours to people- civilians- and this really gorgeous young woman was on the ship getting a tour with her two aunts. Everyone on the ship wanted to date her, but he decided to help her with her bags. He took that opportunity to ask her on a date. She asked her aunts and they said it was okay. So he got to take her on a date, but they had to stay on the ship, so the date was on the ship and everyone got to watch.”
“I was here for a conference that started on Veterans Day. What was meaningful to me was that when we came in from the airport, we passed a park that was loaded with American flags.”
“I’m a veteran so I am glad people appreciate what veterans have done for this country. Right now, especially, with what happened in Paris. It’s only the tip of the iceberg, I hope to God I’m wrong.”
