“The Age of Adaline” Now Playing at Village Theater

“All these years you’ve lived but you’ve never had a life. Please, Adaline, don’t run away again.”

But she does, again and again. Because what else would you do when the world keeps on turning and aging, but you are still perfect, young — and immortal?

This is life for Adaline Bowman, played by the beautiful Blake Lively. A fateful car accident at the age of 29 changes the chemical makeup of Adaline’s genes, and she is stuck in her body, although not in time. As the years go by, old friends are shocked to see her still looking as young as her adult daughter. People want to know her secret. Adaline realizes she needs to hide if she wants to preserve her independence. She tells her daughter, “I’ll always be your mother, you’ll just have to introduce me as your friend.”

Things get complicated, though, when she meets Ellis, a man who truly loves her. Will she tell him her secret? Just as she decides to love him back, her hand is forced by Ellis’s father — a man that Adaline knew and loved many years ago.

“It was fun to live vicariously through her beautiful wardrobe,” said moviegoer Heather Cullen. “Additionally, the passion portrayed between the lead actors was so convincing it was tangible. This is the film for anyone who loves a great romance.”
