Let’s start with the obvious we all share a desire for a great community and a need for a council committed to that common goal. We all have the common thread of expecting- no demanding a town that continues to be wonderful place to live work and play. However, we all have a role to play in achieving this goal and I submit that your role is to participate in our town’s success. That participation means service to community, voting and, I humbly submit, giving financial support to those who share our vision for a great Coronado.
As a life-long resident who both grew up here, and along with my wife, is raising children here in Coronado, I have a sense of our town’s past that will serve me in my future leadership roles in the community. This time-honed trait has already proved a valuable asset in my service on the Coronado Planning Commission.
With our town under so many pressures and subjected to so many visible changes, residents like you and me are continually challenged. But in the face of all these tangible troubles that sometimes frustrate, I hope to focus my efforts when elected on tempering these tangibles while at the same time championing the magic intangibles that define our timeless beach town as very desirable place to live work and play. I contend that even though there has been a great many changes, the core values that make our Coronado so special remain strong and vibrant. What a challenging and exciting time to take this natural step towards a council seat!!!
For over 30 years I have demonstrated a consistent engagement in the threads that stitch together our Coronado Community. From youth soccer coach to Planning Commissioner, from Parade and Telethon host to Christ Church youth leader, from leadership positions at Coronado Yacht Club and Rotary to the Business Areas Advisory Council in 1986 I have constructed a solid foundation of community involvement.
Finally, as I gathered my 30 candidate nominating signatures, I was privileged to secure the support of former Coronado Mayors Mary Herron and Tom Smisek as well as current Mayor Casey Tanaka. I hope Coronado voters agree with these proven community leaders that I am the right candidate at the right time to join the City Council.
