Coronado Scribes Poetry and Prose Weekly Feature: “Sands of Time” a poem by Channing DeVoueroix

We, the Coronado Scribes, consist of both professional and amateur writers. We have in common a desire to learn, by sharing our efforts and listening to other writers. We hold pressure-less sessions every Wednesday, at the Coronado Library conference room, starting at 1:30. Often we have guests who wish to just listen. They are welcome, and so are you.

Each week on eCoronado, we feature a different piece of prose or poetry produced by one of our writers. Please feel free to comment or ask questions in the comment section below.

SANDS OF TIME

By

Channing DeVoueroix

I hear the Ocean’s pounding heart

I see its passion frothing, white

It stops to kiss my toes

And splash

A loving mist upon my nose.

Its lusting waves, with puckered lips

French kiss the hungry shore.

The Sand’s a ready bride, the Ocean takes her.

Willingly she joins the stir, her grains intensified.

I heard the primal roar, the rise and fall,

And they are emptied!

Waves become the tide and sand the shore,

Waiting . . . . .

To be kissed, once more.
