I was asked to participate in a gentleman’s Master’s Thesis on history of the floating gambling casinos that dotted our coast in the 1930s. In particular, he was interested in what I knew about Coronado’s casino – the Monte Carlo. The young historian is a delightful fellow named Michael B. Burton. His blog is called “Bear Flag Libation.” Some museum is gonna hit a home run when they hire him.
Without a doubt, I can tell you that this gentleman’s four-part series on the floating sin ships is, to date, the most ambitious gathering of information and history on the subject EVER. I’m flattered to be a part of it, and attached is part three of the four segments. It has long been a dream of mine that college professors would assign more Master’s Thesis topics on specific bits of Coronado history. Perhaps this is the start of something big …
