Coronado Police clarify medical policies for people in custody

CORONADO – The Coronado Police Department is clarifying its procedures after a man in police custody had a medical emergency.
Jasen Harris, 36, was denied diabetes medication while officers searched his San Diego home in October for stolen property. Harris was suspected in a string of burglaries in Coronado and has since pled guilty to receiving stolen property.
“I kept telling the officer, ‘Hey I’m a diabetic. Can I take my medication?’ They kept ignoring me, ignoring me.”
