Update: Woman dies after being injured in pedestrian accident near Ninth and Orange

Update: The Coronado Police Department has confirmed that on Thursday, November 7, the woman died from the injuries she sustained in the accident. The driver in the incident will not be charged with any violations in relation to this accident.

Original story: An 89-year old Coronado woman was rushed to a local trauma hospital this afternoon after stepping out into traffic near the intersection of Orange Avenue and Ninth Street.

The initial investigation by the Coronado Police Department showed that the woman had entered the road by walking between two parked cars. Authorities were investigating to determine whether the woman was struck by a moving vehicle or if her injuries were sustained due to a fall in her efforts to move from the path of an oncoming vehicle.

CPD investigators were on the scene for several hours this afternoon as they conducted their investigation.
