After a unanimous decision by the Coronado City Council, Coronado is now a town with a Cultural Arts Commission. This group of seven volunteer commissioners will be picked by the council most likely at the November 15th meeting.
Although you must be a Coronado resident to apply, Heidi Wilson, who lead the push for the new commission over the past few years, says the best candidates may not necessarily be artists.
“It would be best to have a broad range of people on the commission,” said Wilson.
If you live in Coronado, love the arts, and want to have an impact then you should apply!
Since it is the first ever Cultural Arts Commission for Coronado, the term lengths, which are normally set at three years, will need to be staggered terms of one, two, and three year terms. One commissioner may serve a maximum of two three-year terms. More information about the commission and commissioner duties can be found in the executive summary.
Applications are due by Nov. 4th. Applications can be found here.
