Traditional Building magazine, a resource for professionals in building restoration,
chose the 1906 Lodge for a feature article in its August 2011 issue.
The 1906 Lodge being readied for its lift.
The article provides a comprehensive review of the challenges and triumphs of bringing the derelict boarding house back to life as a Coronado luxury hotel . Probably the most interesting aspect of the construction, at least to all our neighbors in Coronado, was the excavation of the lot, and the lifting of the historic building six inches. This allowed for access to new underground parking, and added a gentle slope to the lot for rainfall drainage.
Parking in the heart of Coronado is always a challenge. Even though there are 14 parking spaces along the 1906 Lodge curb, they are in great demand due to our proximity to shops, restaurants, and the beach. Our free private underground parking makes it easy to enjoy Coronado without the stress of looking for parking.
