TUNNEL VISION
Attention Coronado voters!
The “Tunnel” scenario was played out on TV years ago. Just click on the link below to view an episode of the Simpson’s entitled “Marge vs. the Monorail”. This is a comical view of what happens when the town mayor buys off on a huckster’s scheme to use all of the town’s money to construct a useless monorail. One of the huckster’s hilarious lines is:
“You know, a town with money is a little like the mule with a spinning wheel no one knows how he got it, and danged if he knows how to use it!”
It’s not too hard to substitute “Tunnel” for “Monorail” you get the idea.
The town goes broke, the monorail fails, the town’s oldest tree gets destroyed (as in the Pomona Traffic Circle fiasco), and the huckster flees with the money to Tahiti. (You can’t help thinking that Coronado is located on the route to Tahiti.)
