USS Stennis Carrier Strike Group Returns from Deployment

Welcome Home Stennis Strike Group

The Bremerton, Washington based aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis and her carrier strike group are returning from a seven month deployment to the Western Pacific and Middle East. As I left the gym on base this morning, I was awed by the presence of the carrier (I miss seeing the Vinson and the Reagan.) and her sailors. I witnessed an excited spouse decorating her vehicle with “Welcome Home” messages as she prepared to meet her sailor at the pier.

The aircraft carrier’s strike group also includes Destroyer Squadron 21, Carrier Air Wing 9 and the following San Diego based ships: guided- missile cruiser USS Mobile Bay, guided-missile destroyers USS Pinckney, USS Kidd, USS Dewey and USS Wayne E. Meyer.

Best wishes to all the sailors coming home and their families. Thank you for your service to our country.
