The much-anticipated wait for Coronado’s very own gourmet hot dog restaurant is finally over! Delux Dogs, located at 943 Orange Ave, is now open!
Replacing Stretch’s Café, the renovation is beautifully and creatively done. The color scheme is lovely and gives off a very beachy feel.
They use Chicago’s own Vienna brand 100% all beef hot dogs along with a Bread & Cie bun. There are many dog choices, but they also have a great salad and delicious side orders! To drink they have 2 amazing lemonade choices (Delux hand squeezed and desert pear infused) and a selection of fountain drinks. They also have ice-cream sandwich choices for dessert. Delux Dog owners, Kirsten Bertz and James, have applied for a beer/wine permit and are just waiting on the approval.
The restaurant has a sound system with upbeat music and the décor is fabulous. When I visited the restaurant, business was booming! People were crowding to get their delux dogs! We ordered a Ruben, a New Yorker, a Delux Top Dog, and a Delux Chopped Salad. All four were wonderful and cooked to perfection.

The previous location for Stretch’s Cafe is now Delux Dogs.

It was packed at lunch when we stopped by. A slender space with seating on both sides.

Menu as of 4/21/12 – subject to change.

The Delux Top Dog, 50/50 tots (regular and sweet potato) and an ‘Orange’ special.

The Delux Chopped Salad.
