Argo, directed by Ben Affleck, is 120 minutes of drama and suspense which will keep you on the edge of your seat. A fellow movie-goer mentioned, “Even though, historically speaking, I know what happens, I was tense the entire film.” The movie captures the true story about the 1979 siege on the U.S. Embassy in Tehran and the CIA operative, Tony Mendez, whose creative and questionable plan will evacuate six Americans hiding in the Canadian Embassy. It offers a glimpse at the terror and chaos of the recent attack on the American Embassy in Libya.
The movie is stacked with amazing actors and the attention to detailfrom the hair-dos of the actors to the use of actual video coverage of the eventtruly grounds you in the movie. While you are trapped in suspense and terror for the majority of the motion picture, there are surprisingly humorous moments which relieve the stress. Argo fantastically portrays the true events of 1979 and is enjoyable whether you are reliving those turbulent 444 days or are learning about it for the first time. The Village Theatre is the perfect spot to view the movie with its vintage style complementing the time period of the film.
