Coronado, California, March 30, 2015 Glorietta Bay Inn joined hundreds of millions of people and businesses around the world in switching off lights of their property for one hour Earth Hour, the world’s largest public environmental action on Saturday, March 28, 2015. By taking part of the global ”lights off” event, the hotel will be acknowledging its commitment to the actions that benefit the planet in the year ahead.
During Earth Hour, the Inn switched to minimal lighting by turning off non-essential lights after hours to conserve energy. A guest letter was sent to each guest room to encourage the guests to turn off the lights in their rooms. The Inn’s staff is encouraged to support the cause on a continuous, daily basis by minimizing energy use and switching off less essential lights. On a daily basis, the hotel implemented a water conservation linen program last year to help conserve California water.
“We always look at ways the Inn can operate more efficiently, waste less, and reduce our environmental footprint,” says Claudia Ludlow, General Manger of the 100-guest room Inn.
