Four years ago, newly-elected Bill Sandke sat down next to me at the City Council dais. Bill brought an intense passion for our community. We worked well together. With his Coronado roots, Bill conveyed the mood of the public to the rest of the Council. Because Bill grew up here, created a business here, and served in every type of community organization, his values serve as a litmus test of what outcome best serves our citizens. And then he works to achieve that best outcome. For example, one of the City’s most vexing issues is traffic. Bill champions projects that can slow traffic and reduce congestion. He knows how we could change the state highways if they were relinquished by CalTrans to our City. He sits on the MTS Board. At SANDAG, our regional planning agency, he’s Vice Chair of Transportation; and serves on the Borders and Shoreline Preservation committees. So he appreciates the innovations that can reduce commuter vehicles; and slow the speed of traffic. I count on him to carry those traffic solutions to completion, just as I counted on his persistence in improving so many other policies. Bill’s done well for us for four years. Let’s re-elect him for four more!
