In early 2019 Fox Restaurant Concepts will take over the Costa Azul restaurant space in Coronado. Fox Restaurant Concepts, located in Phoenix, Arizona, and proprietors of almost 50 locations, will be taking over the space at 1031 Orange Ave. The as-yet unnamed eatery will be a new restaurant brand for Fox as they continue their expansion on the west coast, which, says owner Sam Fox, “epitomizes the energy, artistry and mood of so many of our concepts.”
Plans are in place for six Southern California restaurants by early 2019: The Henry already opened in West Hollywood, Blanco Tacos + Tequila will open in Fashion Valley, North Italia has two San Diego locations coming, Flower Child will be in Los Angeles, and the Coronado restaurant completes the six. Fox says, “Southern California has become a second home for my family and for my company, and our growth here feels as exciting as it does organic. We look forward to serving so many new neighbors with great food and hospitality.”
Fox Restaurant Concepts was founded in 1998 by Sam Fox, a college dropout who used his tuition to open his first restaurant at the age of 20. He’s now an eleven-time James Beard Award semifinalist for Outstanding Restaurateur, a New York Times best-selling cookbook author and was recently named one of the 50 most influential people in the restaurant industry by Nation’s Restaurant News for the fifth consecutive year. In addition to notable FRC brands Flower Child, North Italia and The Henry, he has also founded, grown and sold concepts including True Food Kitchen/Juby True and Sauce Pizza & Wine.
