Coronado Fire Department Battalion Chief Perry Peake is a member of the Urban Search and Rescue California Task Force 8 (CA-TF8) and has been deployed to Texas with CA-TF8 to support operations related to Hurricane Harvey.
There are four Coronado Fire members currently rostered with CA-TF8. Currently, Chief Peake is the only Coronado Fire employee deployed to Hurricane Harvey. He is currently the senior task force leader with California Task Force 8. His assignment for Hurricane Harvey is as a ground support specialist.

Over the years Chief Peake has participated in many emergencies and once again we will hope for his safe return once his work is done.” – Fire Chief Mike Blood.
Members of the Task Force receive special training and are elements of a national emergency response team. Chief Peake’s training for the FEMA US&R system includes: Vertical rescue training, SFM rescue systems 1&2 , structural collapse training, confined space rescue, trench rescue, Incident Command, weapons of mass destruction enhanced operational training, water rescue training, swift water and flood water rescue and other various related courses. Along with these courses there is position specific training associated with the position(s) that one holds on the task force.
Chief Peake has held the positions of rescue squad officer, rescue team manager, and is qualified for the positions of technical information specialist and plans officer. Chief Peake has been with the team since its establishment in 1991. (He previously served with the San Diego Fire Department.) He was a task force leader for the deployment to Hurricane Katrina and the World Trade Center on 9/11.
Chief Peake has been deployed on several other urban search and rescue task force assignments including the Northridge earthquake as well as other hurricanes and water rescue related deployments.
