The Unbattle Project: Providing Confidential Counseling to Current and Past Military Members

The Unbattle Project LogoLilach Harris is a military spouse and local therapist. She founded a non-profit in March of 2016 called The Unbattle Project. She created this organization to provide free, confidential counseling to veterans and current military members.

“Our mission is to reduce veterans’ suicide rates and restore hope for life (currently 20 veterans per day commit suicide),” Harris said in an email, “We, at UP believe that counseling can make a difference and that military life matters.”

According to The Unbattle Project website, untreated mental health issues are a large factor in rising suicide and homelessness rates among US veterans. The organization promotes the idea that people are bent, not broken, and that chronic problems are avoidable with proper intervention.

On June 25, The Unbattle Project is holding a fundraiser on the USS Midway. The admission cost covers admission, touring of the ship, dancing, and hors d’oeuvres made by military  chefs. The chefs will battle each other in a cook-off led by Chef Andrew Selz. There will also be a dessert bar. Alcohol can be purchased at the event.

Tickets to the event can be purchased on the eventbrite page. Donations can be made on The Unbattle Project donation page. The basic ticket cost is $75 and there is a Military discount ticket price of $50. Donations of greater amounts can be used for different sponsorship levels, each of which have different perks. Legions of Merits Sponsorship ($1,000) includes two tickets to the event and the donating company’s logo and website appearing on the sponsors page of the event’s website. Silver Sponsorship ($2,000) includes the Legions perks, a VIP table with two complimentary wine bottles, and the company’s logo prominently displayed on the event’s step-and-repeat. Medal of Honor Sponsorship ($3,000+) includes the Silver perks as well as: 2 extra tickets, the opportunity to set up an informational and promotional booth, a live mention and recognition at the event, and entrance into the drawing for a private dinner for six in your home with Chef Andrew Selz.

Donations, tickets, and sponsorship are all tax deductible.
