Drug Dealers Attempt to Befriend Coronado Students

In an email today from Coronado High School Principal Jenny Moore to Islander students and families, Ms. Moore states that the Coronado High School and the Coronado Police Department are aware of two adults from Chicago who appear to have recently relocated to our community and are attempting to involve our students in the sale and purchase of drugs. They are also being linked to thefts in the community. The individuals have been identified as Joshua Batson, a 20-year-old black male, and Vincent Maldonado, a 20-year-old Hispanic male. The email states that the school has no evidence that the two men have entered the Coronado High School campus, but they are actively attempting to befriend Coronado students and residents in the community. They may be representing themselves to other adults as Coronado High School students.

Coronado High School and Coronado Unified School District are working in cooperation with the Coronado Police Department, who are actively investigating these adults and their activities. School officials are on alert to maintain the security of campus.

If you have additional information related to these individuals, please call the Coronado Police Department at 619-522-7350. Please direct any questions or concerns about student safety on campus to Coronado High School at 619-522-8907.
