City Manager’s Weekly Update – December 9, 2016

Each week, the City Manager’s Office provides an update that includes information on programs, services and issues within the City, as well as news, project updates and follow-up information when necessary.

  • Coastal Campus Entrance Public Meeting:  The City will host a public meeting with the Navy to discuss the Naval Base Coronado Coastal Campus entrance on Wednesday, December 14, at 6 p.m. at the Coronado Cays Homeowners Association Club Room, 505 Grand Caribe Causeway. The Navy will present plans it has submitted to the California Department of Transportation for the proposed signalized entrance. The plans are 65 percent complete.

  • Parade of Lights Tour:  The Coronado Boathouse invites up to 20 participants to accompany its staff as it paddles out to Tidelands Park to watch the San Diego Bay Parade of Lights. The fee is $5 plus the cost of a vessel, such as a stand-up paddle board or kayak, and participants must have a current Recreation Department waiver on file. Bay of LIghts Tour

  • Port Performance Venue Environmental Study:  A public meeting is set for Monday, December 19, to solicit comments on the scope and content of a draft Environmental Impact Report for a proposed permanent performance and event venue in Embarcadero Marina Park South in San Diego. In the past, the community has expressed concern about the noise from the venue. The City will closely monitor the study. The Bayside Performance Park will be used by applicant San Diego Symphony Orchestra and other artists and events. The report will address the environmental effects of the proposed project on surrounding areas, including noise, aesthetics and visual resources. The meeting will be at 5 p.m. at the San Diego Unified Port District Administration Building, Training Room, 3165 Pacific Highway, San Diego. For questions, call (619) 686-6597.
  • Teddy Bear Drive:  The Police Department thanks the Coronado community for donating hundreds of bears for the 26th Annual Regional Law Enforcement Teddy Bear Drive. Coronado Police had the honor of delivering them to Rady Children’s Hospital on Tuesday, December 6. Law enforcement from around the county collected and delivered 100,000 stuffed animals. The stuffed animals will be given to children at Rady’s throughout the year.Teddy Bear Drive
