Old Goats, City of Coronado, Hotel del Coronado Combat Injured & Special Military Personnel Recognition Weekend and Reception

Please Join Us For Our
Combat Injured and Special Military Personnel Recognition Weekend

For several years, the Navy Old Goats and the City of Coronado have co-sponsored an annual weekend to honor local Wounded Warriors and special military personnel.  The Old Goats have joined forces with the Travis Manion Foundation to enhance their ability to reach out to combat wounded veterans who are still recovering, but are no longer on active duty.  They are now the Navy Old Goats of Travis Manion Foundation, and are again, with the City of Coronado and the Hotel del Coronado, co-sponsoring a celebratory weekend to honor a wide spectrum of combat injured individuals and their families. The celebration this year will honor a diverse group of four combat wounded veterans and one active duty SEAL, together with their families, with a recognition weekend in Coronado on November 11 through 13. The celebration will culminate in a 3:00 PM reception on Sunday afternoon, November 13, at the Coronado Community Center Nautilus Room (1845 Strand Way, Coronado).  The reception will include a buffet, beer, and wine presented by Blue Bridge Hospitality and the Coronado Brewing Company, and will provide an opportunity to meet the honorees.  A short program following the buffet will feature a presentation to the honorees by Mayor emeritus, Casey Tanaka, and is guaranteed to be a heart-warming affair for all. Dress for attendees is Coronado casual.  They are hoping to see a large turnout for the reception by combat injured supporters from Coronado and throughout the San Diego region.

From the Navy Old Goats of Travis Manion Foundation:
This year’s honorees are not only impressive, but certainly the most diverse group yet. Here are some honoree highlights –
We will be honoring an EOD Senior Chief, who is one of the first being treated in the new Project C.A.R.E program at Balboa, as well as three amputees, including two USMC SGTs now transitioning to new lives as civilians, and one Navy combat corpsman now training as a prosthetist for fellow amputees. All have heartwarming stories which we will share at the event.
Another great story is the USMC SGT we originally selected who is a bronze star winning amputee (above the knee). He recently had to decline our invitation because he has orders to deploy once again on active duty – a huge success for him.
Finally, we have the CWO3 Navy Seal who is retiring early to be with his son who is battling a brain tumor. He, his son, as well as all seven in his family will enjoy the weekend retreat together at the Hotel del Coronado.

Registration and payment for the reception is much easier this year with the Travis Manion relationship. Those who wish to attend the reception can register by using the link below. Once the link opens, you will find the Register section to the right.  You can register under Admission, making a $50 per attendee donation to the Travis Manion Foundation.  This donation pays for each attendee’s meal and also helps cover the weekend costs for the honorees and their families. If attendees want to give an additional donation, please select the Would you like to make an Additional Donation? option immediately below the  Admission line and insert the donation amount.  After filling in Admission and any additional donation amounts, please press the large REGISTER button to complete the process. Registration can also be done at the door on the day of the event.

Supporters who cannot attend, but desire to make a donation, can click Make a Donation, which is to the left of the REGISTER button on the website page.  This will take you to a Travis Manion Foundation donation page, where you can make a donation to support the Combat Injured Recognition Weekend.  Please check the block “Dedicate my donation in honor of,” and insert ”Old Goats.”

In all cases of online registration and donations, you will receive an email receipt for the donation.

Please join, physically or financially, for this most worthwhile and inspiring afternoon on November 13.
