For the first time in nearly 40-years, a feature length movie will be filmed at the magnificent Hotel del Coronado. HotelDel.com
You may have seen the last movie shot at The Del – The Stuntman – starring Peter O’Toole, which was filmed in the late ’70s and released in 1980. Before that, Marilyn Monroe in Some Like It Hot.
And what better cast and crew to film NadoLand at The Hotel Del than the students at the Coronado School of the Arts. Six CoSA students have lead roles in the film; Emma Kidd, Ben Shapiro, Patrick Clark, Felicity Bryant and Josh Concepcion. CMS student, Zoe Hunt, has a prime role as Lizzie Mumford.
Coronado TV/CHS graduated senior, Rachael Taylor and CHS/CTV Senior, Morgan Willis are the associate producers and production managers. The production designer and student graphics artist – who also created the poster at top – is CHS/CoSA Senior, Austin Linthicum and the NadoLand director of photography is CHS/CoSA Junior, Austin Varco.
The Navy SEALs are providing a technical producer for NadoLand – as we have several SEALs Obstacle Course and beach running scenes.
Coronado-based NadoLand producers include Susan Kidd, Bill Reitmeyer, Shane Schmeichel, Jim O’Brien, Susan Hunt, Bobbie Bryant, Nancy McRae, Christian Esquevin, Marg Stark and Elizabeth Wampler.
NadoLand associate producers Rachael Taylor and Morgan Willis and assistant director, Christian Taylor researching costumes and set design.
A world of THANKS to The Del’s GM and VP, Andre Zotoff and the Marketing and Public Relations Staff – The folks at The Hotel Del are truly making our students feel welcome – and are providing the perfect scenes and locations needed to make NadoLand the whimsical romantic fantasy we plan on producing. Thank you to the many Coronado Friends and Family who have already donated to the NadoLand Kickstarter Fundraising Campaign. The film is almost 30% funded after just five days – making it one of the hottest campaigns in the Kickstarter California indie film market.
Thank you, Todd Little and the Coronado Island Tourism Improvement District – your choice in having CTV/CoSA students produce promotional videos for the City of Coronado – helped give the student producers and crew confidence through working with the outstanding HD footage which CTID produced and provided for the three promo productions.
The NadoLand fundraising campaign continues until 10:00 AM on July 15th. If we do not reach the goal of $25,000 – the Kickstarter rules call for zero funding and donors are not charged for their donation. The $25,000 will be used to purchase an Ultra HD 4k Cinema Camera (4-times the resolution of HD), lens kit, costumes, props and food for the crew and cast.
The Ultra HD Cinema Camera, lenses, props and costumes are donated back to CoSA – so students can make a feature film a year suitable for big screens everywhere.
