Coronado Resident Doing His Part To Boost Renewable Energy In San Diego

San Diego, CA (October 17, 2012) Coronado resident, Daniel Sullivan, has been working hard to increase the amount of deployed renewable energy and assist San Diego residents in declaring their energy independence. Daniel Sullivan is the Founder and President of Sullivan Solar Power, a local San Diego solar firm.

Strolling through Coronado on a sunny day in 2009, Daniel wondered why there wasn’t more solar in his community. During this time Sullivan created the Coronado Solar Program. This successful three month campaign resulted in an increase of solar in Coronado by 28% and moved the City’s ranking up 19 places in the State for number of solar roofs. Coronado resident participants collectively saved over $45,000.

To assist the San Diego region in reaching its renewable energy goals, Sullivan expanded upon the popular Coronado campaign and created the San Diego Solar Program. The San Diego Solar Program is available to all San Diego County homeowners.. The San Diego Solar Program rewards participants for their commitment to a clean energy future by providing a cash-back incentive. These awards come in addition to the state rebate, federal tax credit, and electric bill savings. Modeled similar to the California Solar Initiative, there are three phases of funding. Those who sign up first, receive the highest incentive available. The program has a goal of assisting residents to commit to installing three megawatts of solar power. Success of this initiative will result in San Diego retaining its top ranking as the number one solar city in the nation, create for a clean energy future, and decrease our need for more power plants.
